Discipline is the process of guiding an individual towards a desirabel behaviour
it is one of the important things in class control
as teachers and parents discipline is very important for your child to have.
below are the ways teachers and parents can establish discipline among their children:
1. invove children in rules establishment.
children have a right to be involved in any decision making partaining them, one way they can be involved in the freedom of expression is by involving them in formulating rules either at home or at school.
by doing so, they will understand the rules and also the consequenecs of breaking such rules and a child who follows rules,is a disciplined child.
2. understand each child as a unique individual
this is one of the things that causes children to misbehave, treating them as a group and offering them the same type of punishment. everyone is unique, we all have different personalities, and children should be handled uniquely too.
3. motivate children
whatever good behaviour a child shows, motivate him or her as a teacher or parent. motivation can be inform of: smiling to the child, nodding to the child, offering good remarks, clapping for the child, giving a gift to the child e.t.c it should be continous and one can varry the type of motivation, this will in turn encourage the child to continue potraying the new good behaviour.
4. let children be occupied
either at home or at school, let your child be occupied throughout. provide adequate, different, beautiful and safe materials to the children. a busy child will not find time to misbehave and will be pre occupied.
5. use constructive punishment
when discipling your child, be efficient and effective and the punishement should be administered promptly and be consistent. this will encoourage good behaviour in children. constructive punishments include: watering flowers, picking papers e.t.c.
6. Patience
patience is one of the virtue that every teacher and parent should manifest when handling children. be patient with your child when they make mistakes however ensure to correct them so that they can learn form those mistakes.
