Gary Neville has been speaking about Manchester United, Chelsea, Leicester City and the Premier League top four fight.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has issued a top-four prediction after his old team’s blow at home to Southampton.
United were held to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, something which prevented Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men from jumping up to third in the Premier League.
Chelsea have retained that spot and lead Leicester City and United by one point ahead of their clash at home to Norwich City.
But despite the late blow for United when Southampton’s Michael Obafemi struck, Gary still believes the Reds and Chelsea are in the prime positions due to Leicester’s tough remaining fixture list.
“I would have put Manchester United well in front if that hadn’t happened in the last minute just because of the fact that they are in great form,” Gary explained in the latest episode of his Sky Sports’ podcast.
“They have got Crystal Palace on Thursday who seem like they have switched off. I was at the Chelsea game a couple of weeks ago and they played quite well but they have had disappointing games in and around that.
“Chelsea have got Norwich City tonight and you would expect them to do the job. But Leicester have got some tough games. Leicester have Tottenham on Sunday and Sheffield United before that, with United on the final day.
“You would say at this moment in time Manchester United and Chelsea are still favourites. But that result against Southampton will just put a seed of doubt in their minds that wasn’t there before.”
Gary added that he feels Wolves and Sheffield United, four and five points off the Champions League spots respectively, are too far behind with three games left.
Gary added: “I think Wolves and Sheffield United are too far off. I just can’t see the three above them making the mistakes that they would need to jump up.”
