The medical examiner’s report consists of two parts.
In the first section, the medical examiner simply records the answers given to him by the proposed life assured on some prepared set of questions. These questions concern:-
- His pas medical history and that of his family
- His state of health
- His current state of health
- His habits and hobbies
The second part of the medical examiner’s report deals with the physical examination. The results are recorded in the appropriate sections of the medical form. This include;
- Measurements of the height and weight (To determine over or under weight).
- Blood pressure readings are taken thrice at interval of about ten minutes if first reading is abnormal. The BP readings will reveal if applicant is hypertensive or not.
- Checks the respiratory system for any adverse condition.
- Checks the condition of the heart and kidney
- Checks for any physical deformity
- Examines a specimen of the Applicant’s urine for abnormal elements
- Opinion of the Medical Examiner: Is Applicant acceptable at ordinary rates or on special terms? Or should the application be declined altogether?
