A chest x–ray produces images of the heart, lungs, airways, blood vessels and the bones of the spine and chest. An x–ray (radiograph) is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.
- The photograph shows the skeletal frame and internal organs of the chest.
- It can reveal the extent of lung disorders and any abnormal enlargement of the heart
- Underwriters need the Doctor’s report and not the film
Conditions that can be detected using chest X-ray
- Heart Enlargement
- Tuberculosis
- Pneumonia
- Lung Cancer
- Hypertensive Heart disease
- Myocarditis – disorder that is usually caused by viral, bacterial, or fungal infections that reach the heart.
The request for this test is less frequent today due to the lessening of conditions such as Tuberculosis and radiation from the x-ray machine can be harmful.
