Manchester are monitoring Watford forward Ismaila Sarr ahead of a potential bid.
Watford are in serious financial trouble after being relegated from the Premier League following their poor season.
A number of Hornets players could leave Vicarage Road, and the Daily Mirror reports that Manchester united are keeping tabs on Sarr, 22.
He joined Watford from Rennes for £30million last summer and has been one of the club’s standout players in their relegation season.
Sarr, a right winger who can also play as a striker, scored five goals and five assists in the Premier League this in the season that just ended.
He scored two goals and provided an assist in a 3-0 victory over Liverpool in February, which ended the Reds’ unbeaten run of 44 matches without a league defeat.
If he were to complete an Old trafford move, Sarr would compete for the right wing position with Daniel James and Greenwood
United are having trouble getting the coveted signature of Jadon Sancho whom Dortmund as united thinking have overpriced.
United are not expected to do a lot of business in the upcoming window but Solskjaer may be tempted to add to his squad a winger and a defensive midfielder.
Rashford, Martial and Greenwood are nailed on starters but the club’s options up front are slightly thin in the event of any of them being injured or suspended.
And Sarr could well be available for a cut-price deal as Watford were relegated from the Premier League.
“Gary Neville was so impressed by Ismaila Sarr that he said if United don’t get a deal done for Sancho, they should seriously look at Sarr. It think it would take a bid of around £50m to Watford to sell.
“There are reports in France that Crystal Palace want to sign him. He’s a player that Liverpool and Wolves have looked at but he’s on a long-term contract and Watford, having paid £35m for him, won’t sell on the cheap.”
