Kenya records 960 new Covid-19 cases, raising tally to 17,603

Kenya has recorded 960 new coronavirus cases pushing the country’s total caseload so far to 17,603.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Health said the new infections were recorded following testing of 8,261 samples within the last 24 hours.

Out of the 960 new cases, Nairobi has the highest share with 510 new infections followed by Kajiado (102), Kiambu (100), Machakos (58), Mombasa (48), Busia (21), Garissa (17), Uasin Gishu (15), Kisumu (14), Nakuru (12) and Narok (10).

Other counties that have recorded new cases are Turkana (9), Bomet (8), Kericho (7), Laikipia (5), Murang’a (5), Makueni (5), Embu (3), Nyeri (2), Taita Taveta (2), Kakamega (2), Bungoma (2), Tana River (1), Trans Nzoia (1) and Kisii (1).

Of the new cases, 604 are male while 356 are female. They are aged between 1 -88 years.

At the same time, two more patients have succumbed to the disease, raising the number of fatalities recorded in the country so far to 280.
