Real Madrid centreback Raphael Varane has reached an agreement with MUFC on personal terms — to sign for 5 years and collect €12m annually.
Manchester United has reportedly agreed a pre-personal agreement with Raphael Varane for five years with a whopping 12mil/year contract. It’s also rumored that the French CB has rejected a 4 year and 7mil/year contract from Real Madrid.
Manchester United is keen to bring in a partner for Harry Maguire as they look to give Manchester City a run for their money at the Premier League title next term. Varane is also garnering interest from PSG, but the Red Devils are currently the main side who are monitoring the Frenchman, who has collected 78 caps for Les Bleus.
Varane, who just featured for France at Euro 2020, has one year remaining on his current deal at the Bernabeu. Manchester United has actually had an interest in the center-back for quite some time, but it’s now believed that Varane is interested in a change of scenery.
It’s unknown at this point if Madrid would actually let him leave, but he is believed to be at the top of United’s summer wishlist. The 28-year-old joined Real from French side Lens in 2011 and has made over 350 appearances for the Spanish giants while solidifying himself as one of the best defenders in the world.
In our opinion, this will be a true dream come true for me. A Varane-Maguire partnership will arguably be the best CB partnership after Stones-Dias, perhaps even better than them. And a 250k/week deal is not too over the top either – certainly not for someone with 4 UCLs and a world cup to his name. Really hope United can pull this one through!
