United legend Paul Scholes singled out one key player after last night’s disappointing 2-2 draw against Southampton. Paul Scholes was critical of Victor Lindelof after the draw against the Saints.

Manchester United had the chance to move up to third in the Premier League and boost their hopes of securing a Champions League spot. Although they can still achieve this by winning the Europa League outright, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems determined to clinch a top four spot.

However, Manchester United were held to a draw at Old Trafford on Monday night and remain in fifth. Yesterday we learned that Manchester City avoided European suspension despite their cheating, which means fifth place is no longer considered a Champions League spot but we weren’t going into games thinking this would be the case anyway.

Third place is still United’s objective for the remainder of the season, with three games left to play.

Southampton took a first half lead through Stuart Armstrong but two quick-fire goals saw United 2-1 ahead at half-time. After the interval our passing still lacked precision and we had no real tempo. Southampton continued to press like a pack of wild dogs before Michael Obafemi netted a stoppage time equaliser.

Victor Lindelof was the closest defender to Obafemi, with the Sweden international appeared flat-footed and unaware of danger. Scholes wasn’t happy with the centre-back and demanded him to be stronger.

“Lindelof I think has to be stronger there,” Scholes said.

“He has to be on goal side. He allows himself to get a little bit bullied by the centre forward as he manages to get a foot in.

“I don’t think Lindelof really reads the danger there as he should do as a centre half.”

on the receining end of cricism was Harry Maguire. He was criticized at full time for marking his own team-mate for the goal…
