Teaching strategy is a means of carrying out teaching, a strategy is a way of organizing and facilitating learning experiences
they include:
1. Teacher centered Approach
it is one of the approach that a teacher takes control and dominates by taking active role in the instructional process
he or she is viewed as the sole provider and custodian of knowledge
the learners have very little influence over the choice of exposure
the teacher plans, sets objectives and selects the learning experiences that are age appropriate to the learners
the teacher also provides learning resources for learners to manipulate as per the instruction given
2. child centered Approach
this approach appreciates children as unique beings with unique interests
learners are actively involved in decision making in regard to the choice of content to be taught, the methodology and the activities
outcomes are stated in terms of the learners expected outcomes
the learners take an active role in the lesson
he or she forms the center of focus during the learning process
3. Child Instructor Interaction
an instructor can be a parent, sibling, peers or other members of the community given the responsibility of interacting with the child
this interaction may take place in the form of discussions, guidance sessions, questioning, negotiations and problem solving
this approach allows equitable participation of both the child and the instructor during interaction which allows dual communication
participation is balanced of both the child and the instructor
it enhances mutual relationship between the child and the instructor
4. learning through Play
children like to play, as they do they:
develop social skills
are stimulated their imagination skills
exercise their freedom in the choice of activities
improve their mental and physical health
5. Peer Teaching
children at the same age engage in teaching each other
it is the teaching where children act as little teachers who supplement the work of the teacher by communicating to each other
lessons taught by the teacher helps fast learners to exercise their talents and gifts and build confidence in them
this method is practical in teachhing skills such as: buttoning, tying shoe lace, road safety
