Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was named the Premier League manager of the month of June ahead of Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Chelsea’s Frank Lampard and Newcastle’s Steve Bruce

Nuno Espirito Santo has been named the Premier League manager of the month for June after he guided Wolves to three successive wins following last month’s restart.

Nuno dedicated his award to the club’s medical staff, saying: “We are pleased with the award, but as you know, the words are for all the group, especially for the medical staff who allowed us to return safely in a good way.

“They are our true heroes because what they have done behind the scenes was huge for us and that was what made it possible for us to compete well in the return of the competition, so this reward is for them.”

Wolves boosted their bid for a second consecutive season of European football with victories against West Ham, Bournemouth and Aston Villa, without conceding a goal, upon the resumption of the league programme.

Wolves boss Nuno beat fellow nominees Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Frank Lampard and Steve Bruce, who all also went unbeaten during June and in March, with those results prior to the suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic in account.
