There has been a discussion around the country as to who occupies The Office of the Majority Leader in the national assembly with both leading coalitions chest thumbing with numbers.

The ruling coalition claims this while the opposition says that they are the rightful owners. Both parties have gone ahead and nominated members who will become the Majority leaders

The Law is very clear on this, According to the Article 108 of the Constitution, it provides that “there shall be a leader of the majority party and a leader of the minority party”. The leader of the majority party shall be the person who is the leader in the National Assembly of the largest party or coalition of parties.

Minority Leader: The leader of the minority party shall be the person who is the leader in the National Assembly of the second largest party or coalition of parties.

As per current arrangements, UDA party has the largest number of Members of Parliament while in terms of coalitions filed at the registrar of political parties, Azimio coalition has the highest number of Mps. Eyes will now be on the speaker on how he will rule on this matter
